Hotel guest catches staffer going through belongings using hidden camera
This turn-down service was not allowed at the hotel.
An crafty tourist in Mexico caught a hotel staffer red-handed parsing through his belongings by using a hidden camera app attached to his laptop.
Arturo Brunello was vacationing at a hotel — which he declined to identify — when he claimed that a hotel worker, who was allegedly supposed to be cleaning his room, went through his belongings — and even helped himself to a beer from the hotel fridge.
Brunello caught the allegedly sticky-fingered employee using an app called iSentry, which turns the webcam of the user’s computer into a motion-sensing security system.
“Here, you can see the housekeeping staff help himself to a beer from our fridge,” said a voiceover.
The video, which has gained nearly 3 million views on TikTok, also shows the unsuspecting staffer going through Brunello’s drawers.
“Why are you going through our drawers,” questioned Brunello.
The staffer could be seen rummaging throughout the room, going through the safe as well as Brunello’s backpack.
“This was the first time I set up a camera, that is alarming to me,” said Brunello.
According to the traveler, the employee was immediately terminated after hotel management saw the footage.
“I’m honestly surprised he didn’t see the green light on my webcam. Next time, I will be blacking it out,” said Brunello.
“There are others in the app store but this one was able to send me email notifications when it detected motion. 10/10 would recommend,” he concluded.
The Post reached out to Brunello for comment.
Several users expressed their shock and anxiety about potential hotel thefts.
“That’s why I always bring the minimum,” one user stated.
“No jewelry and whatever is expensive is in my purse with me, but a camera is genius,” stated another.
