Punjabi actor Aman Dhaliwal IDed as victim of bloody hatchet attack at California gym
The man who was slashed and bloodied by a hatchet-swinging lunatic at a California gym last week has been identified as Punjabi actor Aman Dhaliwal.
Dhaliwal showed off several large slashes that were stitched up and bandaged in photos he posted to social media and thanked everyone for their support.
“Hope everyone doing [sic] and by grace of God and yours blessings I am feeling gratitude…..,” he wrote on Facebook. “Thanks for love and care and will be try to reply every call & msg ….”
The 41-year-old actor suffered wounds to his chest, arm, neck and head after he was attacked by a screaming assailant in the parking lot of a Planet Fitness in Corona on the morning of March 14.
Ronald Chand, 30, allegedly sliced and stabbed Dhaliwal several times with both a hatchet and knife before the actor dashed into the Planet Fitness to try to get away.
Chand followed him inside and held him at knifepoint until Dhaliwal tried to fight back and four gym-goers jumped into action — pouncing on the assailant, according to footage of the assault.
The video shows Chand yelling at gym patrons to “Please respect us,” “Give me water” and “You want to take advantage of me,” while holding the actor at knifepoint.
The foursome held him down until police arrived and arrested him for attempted murder. Chand, of Santa Ana, was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, where he is being held on $1 million bail.
Dhaliwal, who was shown covered in blood in the video, was treated by first responders at the scene and rushed to an area hospital.
The model-turned-actor is known for his roles in Punjabi and Hindi films including “Ik Kudi Punjab Di” and “Ajj De Ranjhe.”
