Marianne Williamson will enter 2024 presidential race

Self-help guru Marianne Williamson confirmed in a Thursday interview that she’ll challenge for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination.

The best-selling author and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate told Northwestern University’s Medill News Service that she will officially launch her White House campaign on March 4, during an event in Washington, DC.

“I wouldn’t be running for president if I didn’t believe I could contribute to harnessing the collective sensibility that I feel is our greatest hope at this time,” Williamson told the news outlet.

Williamson’s long-shot 2020 presidential campaign came to an end before the Iowa caucuses despite becoming one of the most Googled Democratic candidates after a debate performance where she accused former President Donald Trump of conjuring up “dark psychic force” in the US.

The viral candidate championed issues in 2020 that included establishing a “Department of Peace” and doling out $100 billion in reparations.

She endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for the White House after suspending her campaign.

Williamson told the Medill News Service on Thursday that American corporations are trying to “suck the juice” out of democracy, and accused lawmakers of not doing enough to shrink corporate power.

“People who run the government are divided into two categories, those who either don’t care to fix it or do not have the spine to fix it. And neither category should be running this country,” she said.

Williamson also railed against the Democratic Party’s decision to change the order of the presidential primaries — shifting South Carolina up to the first spot and bumping down Iowa.

“How can you claim to be a champion of democracy when your own process is so undemocratic?” she said, alleging that the move is an effort to rig the primaries for President Biden.

Williamson is the first prominent Democrat to confirm a 2024 presidential run.

Biden, 80, has indicated that he will seek re-election but hasn’t made a formal announcement.

Several Republicans have already joined the 2024 fray including Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
